Desperately need a double room for two spanish friends of mine in city
centre, willing to pay up to £300 in rent.

It would help if you said whether you thought their budget was
outrageously low or outrageously high. I guess you mean the
latter.

If you rent out one bedroom in a two-bedroom flat, it's not
unreasonable to charge half what the whole flat would cost to
rent. £600 per month for a 2-bed flat seems if anything a
bit on the low side, for the city centre.

Or did you think they meant £300 per week?

The budget is 300 a month for a double room, doesn't have to be right near
princes st, Liberton, leith, morningside would do
